Didn't like iPhone ? Try this minimalist's cellphone

This blog doesn't contain a single post about iPhone and its features. There is so much written , read and eaten about iPhone, that I absolutely don't find any motivation to write about it. So much of the hype for a single product (see people queuing up in front of Apple's office), it really makes me mad.

basic minimalist cellphoneWhat really attracted me in this situation, is this minimalist's phone.

This one's just a cellphone that plays a bit of music and stores a list of your contacts, nothing more. What a concept! It has an attractive OLED touchscreen interface that appears underneath its spooky-looking black façade, and on the back there's a fingerprint ID screen so the phone will know that you are actually you. This cellphone design by Jacob Palmborg is for all those who loathe the iPhone and are sick and tired of hearing about it. [via]

Parking meters call you cellphone when time is up

The use of parking meters, which keep track of your the time limits for parking vehicles is quite common.

But now, a new type of parking meters are being installed, which not only keep track of the same thing, but will also call your mobile phones to let you know when the time limit is about to be crossed.
Then you can go there and buy more time. Or more conveniently, use your mobile phone itself to give your credit card details and buy more time.

Isn't it more convenient.

You can see the video clips of these supers meter at Photo Violation Tech's Web site.

NTT Docomo installs recycling bin for cellphones in Japan

Japan is the land of innovations and rightly therefore, one of the biggest users of cellphones. Almost daily a new model is announced and launched and the old ones are discarded.

Ever wondered how harmful is the discarded cellphone if not properly disposed off. Now NTT DoCoMo and am/pm Japan have started installing recycling bins at utility and convenience stores in the entire Japan, where people can dump their old used handsets. when planning to upgrade their handsets. They accept all makes and designs and are theft proof.

Besides sending a strong social message, two other benefits are accruing to the companies by this move. The sales of new handsets is increasing and recycling of the old handsets is unthought-of benefits - NTT was able to harvest more than 42 tons of copper and 320 pounds of gold from old phones alone in 2005.

Fujifilm Big Job HD-3W shockproof, droppfrrof camera

Fujifilm, the big brand in the digital camera segment, have just announced the launch of their rough-tough drop-proof Big Job HD-3W camera, specially designed for the challenging environments like construction, engineering, manufacturing industries etc.

It offers a wide-angle (28-84mm equivalent) 3x zoom lens, a large, scratch resistant 3" LCD monitor, rubber grip and big buttons, which makes it ideal for heady-duty rough uses.

A similar version had been available in Japan but this will be the first time that this will be launched in UK, being launched in August.

Fujifilm says...

“Since digital cameras are electronic devices, they generally do not take kindly to knocks, damp or dust. For many years, Fujifilm Tokyo has been marketing a heavy-duty camera for the construction industry with great success, so we decided to market this latest Big Job model in the UK. It may have an unusual name, but it's perfect for heavy industrial use, where high quality, no fuss pictures are required without worrying about damage to the camera. There aren't many models out there specifically designed for this kind of use, so we expect demand to be strong.”
